Day 1. Arrival to Sofia
Day 2. Sofia
Tour of Sofia – visit Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral, St. Sofia 6th c basilica, the Parliament Square, National Theatre and the Old city garden, the ruins of Ancient Serdica, the Presidency and St. George Rotunda (4th c, the oldest building preserved in Sofia ), the Largo Area. Free afternoon for own discoveries and shopping. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3. Sofia – Rila Monastery – Bansko
Departure for the Rila Monastery - the most famous and the most fascinating monastery in Bulgaria, under UNESCO protection. Tour of the monastery and visit to the monastery church, museum, and the old monastery kitchen. Proceed further to Bansko museum town, located at the foothills of Pirin mountain National park. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4. Bansko – Dobursko village – Plovdiv
Tour of the Old part of Bansko and proceed to Dobursko village to visit the the famous 17th c Theodore Tyro and Theodore Stratelates Church. Continue to Plovdiv – the 2nd largest Bulgarian city, once capital city of Philip the 2nd of Macedonia – the father of Alexander the Great. Check in at the hotel. Visit to the Ancient Theatre (a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre), the Ethnographic Museum (the so-called `Royal House`), the workshop of a local potter. Overnight.
Day 5. Plovdiv – Kazanluk – Veliko Turnovo
Departure to Central Bulgaria. Our first stop will be Kazanluk – the centre of the Valley of Roses, known as well as the Valley of the Thracian kings. Visit Goliama Kosmatka Thracian Tomb (believed to be the tomb of the Thracian King Sevt 3rd – 5th-3rd c BC) and the copy of Kazanluk Thracian Tomb UNESCO site (if interested to visit the original – supplement 10 euro per person). Proceed to Shipka memorial church, Shipka mountain pass and Etara Open Air Ethnographic complex. Visits. If interested – stop on the way to visit Drianovo monastery. Arrival in Veliko Turnovo. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6. Veliko Turnovo - Arbanassi – Veliko Turnovo
Day dedicated to the Medieval capital city of Bulgaria. Visit Tsarevets Royal Hill with the fortress, Samovodska Charshia street of Crafts. Afternoon to Arbanassi museum village, located on a hill above Veliko Turnovo and Transfiguration/ or Petropavlovski monastery. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Veliko Turnovo.
Day 7. Veliko Turnovo – Sofia
Departure to Sofia. Arrival after 4 hours. Check in at the hotel. Continue with the city tour of Sofia. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 8. Sofia – departure
Free time and departure transfer to the airport.
