Day 1 /Saturday/

Arrival at Sofia airport. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation.


Day 2 /Sunday/

Sofia – Troyan monastery – Veliko Tarnovo

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning sightseeing tour including: “St. Alexander Nevski” Cathedral – the biggest orthodox church on the Balkans; the Crypt with unique icon exposition from c. IX-XIX; the church “St. Sofía” – Byzantine basilica; the Rotund “St. George” – which is under the protection of UNESCO and it is the most ancient building in the capital dating back IV c. a. C. Afternoon departure to the Troyan monastery. The monastery is the third biggest monastery in Bulgaria. Here you can see the miraculous icon “Bogoroditsa Troeruchitsa” (The Virgin with the three hands) and hear its extraordinary story. Departure to Veliko Tarnovo. Accommodation at the hotel.


Day 3 /Monday/

Veliko Tarnovo

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning sightseeing tour of Veliko Tarnovo including: the fortress Tsarevets. The city has ancient and glorious history. It was the capital of the Bulgarian Second Kingdom (c. XII – XIV). On the craft street “Samovodska charshia” you could drink a coffee made on hot sand, eat white sweet or just visit one of the numerous workshops. Afternoon visit of the village-museum Arbanassi. The village is considerate ethnographic museum, famous with its wonderful houses and churches, which represent the genius Bulgarian architecture from the Revival period. Visit of some of the monasteries around the village. Return at the hotel.


Day 4 /Thursday/

Veliko Tarnovo – Dryanovo Monastery – Plovdiv

Breakfast at hotel. Departure to the Dryanovo monastery “Sveti Arhangel Mihail” – situated at the picturesque defile of the river Dryanovo in the mountain Stara Planina. The monastery is related with the Bulgarian April Uprising from 1876 and the fights of the Bulgarians for liberation from the Ottoman domination. The surrounding nature will charm you with its exuberance and beauty. Departure to Plovdiv – the second biggest and most important city in Bulgaria. The city will reveal you the treasures of its numerous and glorious inhabitants – Hellenes, Thracians, Romans, Bulgarians, etc. The city itself is one kaleidoscope of cultures, traditions, religions… Sightseeing of the city including: the Roman theatre, the church “St. Constantine and Helena”, the cathedral “Holly Virgin”, the ancient part of Plovdiv with its extraordinary Revival houses; the ethnographic museum. Accommodation at the hotel.


Day 5 /Wednesday/

Plovdiv – Bachkovo monastery - Pamporovo – Shiroka Luka – Devin

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning departure to the Bachkovo monastery – the second biggest and most important Bulgarian, with its unique frescos work of art of the most famous Bulgarian painter Zahari Zograf. Panoramic view of the fortress Asenova. Departure to the village Shiroka Luka via the ski resort Pamporovo. Shiroka Luka is one beautiful ethnographic and arquitectural reserve, where you will find the unique traditions and spirit of the magical mountain Rhodopi. Departure to Devin. The city is famous with its thermal springs. Accommodation at the hotel.


Day 6 /Thursday/

Devin – Bansko – Rozhen monastery – Melnik – Sandanski

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the famous Bulgarian ski resort Bansko. Visit of the church “Sveta Troitsa”. Departure to Melnik famous with its beautiful houses and wine production. The relieve is dominated by the natural phenomena Sand pyramids. Departure to the Rozhen monastery. The Monastery is dating back to c. XVI. Departure to Sandanski famous with its unique clime and thermal springs. Accommodation at the hotel.


Day 7 /Friday/

Sandanski – Rila monastery – Sofia

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the Rila Monastery. The monastery is the biggest one in Bulgaria as well as in the Balkans. It is situated on 1 147 m. above the sea level; among pine forest en the highest Bulgarian mountain – Rila. The monastery complex consist of church, the tower of Hrelio, three museums with diversity of religious and historical exponents and solid building on 4 floors surrounding the extensive yard and serving like walls. The walls have 24 m. of altitude and housed 400 cells of monks; some chapels, a bibliotheca and one kitchen with unique and extraordinary architecture called “magernitsa”. Fell the spirit of Bulgaria on this extraordinary place. Departure to Sofia. Accommodation at the hotel.


Day 8 /Saturday/

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Sofia airport.
