After a visit to the church we have a sightseeing tour of Sofia with its main attractions - the Alexander Nevski Cathedral and the Crypt, National Theatre, St. Sofia church, The Rotunda St George, the hot mineral water springs etc. Lunch and departure for Veliko Tarnovo , picturesquely situated on and around historic hills. Early morning we leave the banks of Danube river and drive through the golden colored sunflower fields of Dobrudzha plateau. Our next stop is another amazing and mystic monument of UNESCO – the Madara horseman. This is the most significant early medieval Bulgarian monument of art – a relief of a horseman cut above a base of vertical rock which rises on the grand rocks on top the plateau. We continue to the small peninsula of Nessebar (also included in the World Heritage List). Free time to explore the peninsula on our own and overnight stay.

Day 5. Nessebar - Kazanlak

This lovely day starts with a guided tour in the old part of Nessebar long before the crowds of visitors have come. We enjoy a walk in the town with its collection of unique churches – a kind of an emblem of Nessebar – they are among the most interesting monuments of church architecture which has survived to our times. The town harbors also the best of the coast`s nineteenth-century wooden architecture. Lunch and drive to the town of Kazanlak – the capital of the Rose valley. Here we visit next UNESCO site – the Thracian tomb with its burial chamber and paintings for which the tomb is famed. Overnight stay in Kazanlak.
