The good old way to travel with own motor home is perfect if you want to get acquainted with Bulgaria. You can expand your horizons and experience Bulgaria before it has changed forever. The country has everything which makes it an exciting and interesting destination. We visit its magnificent mountains with endless green forests, old monasteries and open fields, smell its famous rose oil and taste its sophisticated wines. In the end we drive to its golden beaches with finest sand. All the time we enjoy beautiful views and superb service from our professional local guide.


Day 1. Arrival from North West - Belogradchik
Arrival from north west and drive to the first place of accommodation – the camping site Madona Inn, Belogradchik.
The most famous natural phenomena in the Belogradchik and its region are the Belogradchik Rocks. This rocky fairy-tale is spread from west to the east, from Mount Vedernik around Belogradchik, Borovitsa village to Belotintsi village. The region is 30km. long and 3km. wide. The most awesome rocks are around the town - The Madonna, The Monks, The Rider, The Dervish, The Bear, Adam and Eve, Haidut Velko, The Castle, The Little Shepherd, The Mushrooms, The Lion and many others. Very interesting are the natural bonsais - pines that grow on the walls and tops of the rocks. They are 200-300 years old, but due to the lack of nutrition they are very small. Sightseeing tour around the rocks. Overnight at the camp site Belogradchik.

Day 2. Belogradchik – Sofia
Drive from Belogradchik to Sofia. Accommodation at next camp site in the green outskirts of Sofia, by Iskar dam.

Day 3. Sofia sightseeing
Sightseeing tour of Sofia. The city has been founded 7 000 years ago. Main attractions are the Alexander Nevski Cathedral and the Crypt, National Theatre, St. Sofia church, Sofia’s oldest building the 4-rd century St. George Rotonda. Lunch and free time for shopping. Back to the camp site of Sofia.

Day 4. Sofia – Rila monastery
Excursion to the Rila Monastery – the biggest and most important symbol of Bulgarian Orthodox church. Ringed by mighty walls, the monastery has appearance of a fortress. It impresses its visitors with the beauty of the interior, which even the crowds can’t mar. Graceful arches contrast with the majestic mountains behind and create a harmony between the cloisters and the Church within. The Monastery is a part of UNESCO world heritage. Lunch at a restaurant with wonderful mountain view  and drive to Sofia campsite.

Day 5. Sofia - Plovdiv

Day 6. Plovdiv
Sightseeing tour of Plovdiv. The Ancient Plovdiv is the oldest part of present Plovdiv. It is situated on three hills. The old town region on the Three Hills is declared an architectural and historical preserve area. Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe. We visit the Old town with its beautifully decorated houses, ancient fortress walls, Roman forum and stadium, magnificent churches. Sightseeing includes visit to the Roman theatre and the House of Hindlian, St. Konstantine and Helena Church. After the tour we have lunch in one of the restaurants situated in Old Town house. Free time in Plovdiv.

Day 7. Plovdiv – Bachkovo monastery
Today we drive to Rodopi mountains and visit Bachkovo Monastery. Tour of the monastery, which dates back to the 11th century and is one of the most important and well preserved Bulgarian monasteries. Lunch at a restaurant outside the monastery. In the afternoon we visit Brestovitsa village. The small village of Brestovitsa is known for its traditional architecture and folklore. The region is also known for production of red wines. We visit one of the famous wine cellars in Brestovitsa and enjoy a wine tasting of the delicious Bulgarian wines.

Day 8. Plovdiv - Kazanlak
Another drive from Plovdiv to the next camping site at Kazanlak.

Day 9. Kazanlak – Thracian tomb – Russian church
After breakfast we head towards the most prominent sites of Kazanlak and Rose valley. We drive up to the Balkan Mountains to the Shipka Memorial church. From a hillside next to Kazanlak rise the golden domes of the Russian church in Shipka village. The dramatic background of Balkan mountains creates a wonderful contrast with the coloured façade of the church and its gilded domes. After we`ve paid visit to this beautiful architectural creation we head to the Thracian tomb – a part of UNESCO List and have a look at its wonderful frescoes. Kazanlak is the main town in the Valley of Roses. We visit one of the rose distilleries near Kazanlak and have a presentation of the worlds known rose production. Lunch and free time in Kazanlak.      

Day 10. Kazanlak – Veliko Turnovo
Another drive from Kazanlak to our next camping site which is located in a tranquil and relaxing valley, situated between two working rural villages with rich histories and strong cultural traditions. The campsite boasts stunning panoramic views of the beautiful Bulgarian countryside from every camping pitch. It is conveniently located, just 15 minutes drive from Veliko Turnovo and a short drive to many attractions around the region. A relaxing day around the pool of the camp site or short walks in the nature.

Day 11. Veliko Turnovo - Arbanassi
In the morning we head to Veliko Turnovo – a town extremely picturesquely situated on top and around magnificent hills. There we have a sightseeing tour. Veliko Turnovo was the brilliant capital of the Bulgarian Kingdom (during 12th-14th centuries). Remains of the two medieval fortresses and the palace still stand on Tsarevets Hill. Our journey continues with a visit to the village of Arbanassi - an architectural and museum reserve. We have a sightseeing tour of Arbanassi and its old houses, cobbled streets, remarkable churches and monasteries. Visit to the Church of Nativity (16-17). Lunch in Arbanassi and visit of a local winery (Lyaskovets) for wine tasting in the afternoon. Back to the camp site.

Day 12. Veliko Tarnovo – Varna – Obzor
A day with long distance drive to the Black Sea shore. The total distance from Veliko Tarnovo to the Black Sea (Obzor resort) is 245 km. On the way we drive through Varna – Bulgaria`s 3rd biggest city. After passing by Varna we head south to the resort of Obzor. Situated near Nessebar, on the golden sands of the the Black Sea coast is our next camp site where we spend some wonderful days.

Day 13. – Day 15. Obzor
Rest of the time we spend on the Black Sea coast, having sun, bath and relax.
