Nature, culture and authenticity are the words that best capture the essence of Romania, a dynamic country, with a diverse cultural heritage, rich in history, art, tradition, and scenic beauty.

From the vibrant colours and intricate design of the painted monasteries, to the patterns of traditional folk costumes with remote, fairly-tale villages in which 20th century does not seem to have got a food hold, Romania enchants and delights the eye.

Specially for you we have prepared one unforgettable journey through Romania. We have a full day boat trip in the magnificent Danube Delta, a wilderness paradise, home of hundreds of bird species and thousands of animals and plants. We travel further to gorgeous monasteries with outer walls covered in Byzantine influenced frescoes. On our way we pass century –old villages and experience authentic village life and traditions. We have time enough to explore Transylvania`s medieval towns and fortified citadels including Brasov and Sibiu. In the end we dedicate a whole day to the capital Bucharest with its fantastic mix of architecture styles.

1. Arrival

Arrival and transfer from the airport to a hotel in Bucharest.

2. Bucharest – Constanta

After breakfast we travel to Constanta. The third biggest city of Romania offers a bit of everything: beaches, a picturesque Old Town, archaeological treasures and a peaceful Mediterranean air with the charm of dilapidated Venice back alleys. We are going to have a sightseeing tour and visit one of the few excellent museums in the afternoon. Constanta`s most renowned attraction is the History and Archaeological museum with its Roman statues and one of the biggest Roman mosaics from the 3rd century. Overnight stay in Constanta.

3. Constanta – Murfatlar– Murighiol

After breakfast we have some free time and sightseeing in Constanta. At noon we head to Murighiol – the gate to the Danube Delta. On the way we visit Murfatlar – this is an area where Romania`s best known desert wines are produced. The profitable Murfatlar vineyards are northwest of Constanta. We arrive in Murighiol in the evening. Overnight stay in Murighiol.

4. Danube Delta

After breakfast we head for a boat trip in the Danube Delta. Today we are going to explore the minor waterways and the exotic wildlife of the Delta – with no doubt one of the area`s greatest pleasures. The Danube Delta is one of the most important wetlands of the world and truly one of the last surviving great wildernesses of Europe and its best wildlife sanctuary. We are going to see Isac, Gorgova and Uzlina lakes. We approach a vast maze of channels, forests, sand dunes and reeds. On our way we enjoy the majestic beauty of mother nature and have the chance to see many birds. When we get hungry, we prepare a picnic on the boat or by the lake while listening to the bird`s songs and other nature sounds. Back to Murighiol in the evening.

5. Murighiol – Braila – Focsani – Piatra Neamt

Today we take farewell with East Romania and the Danube Delta, and head North to Piatra Neamt. On our way we pass the city of Braila and we cross Danube river with ferry at Braila. We have a stop in Bacau - a city which is situated in the historical region ofMoldavia, at the foothills of theCarpathian Mountains, and on theBistriţa River. Here we have time to stretch our legs before we reach Piatra Neamt and the heart of Moldavia region. We reach Piatra Neamt in the evening – a pleasant, picturesque town, sunk in a valley and embraced by velvety round hills. Overnight stay in Piatra Neamt.

6. Piatra Neamt – Voronet monastery – Sucevita monastery – Moldovita monastery – Campulung Moldovenesc

Today we explore Southern Bucovina, which is a rural paradise with plentiful UNESCO-recognized painted churches, considered among the greatest artistic monuments of Europe. We are going to experience Bucovina`s folklore, picturesquevillages, endless bucolic scenery, delicious cuisine and the most beautiful monasteries in the area. We start our tour with Voronet monastery where we are going to see the most marvelous Bucovine fresco - The Last Judgment. Our next stop is Moldovita monastery with its fortifications and surrounding buildings which are as impressive as the exterior frescoes. Later we take a winding, remote mountain road with breathtaking views to Sucevita monastery. After a whole day with some of the most magnificent Romanian monasteries we drive for overnight to Campulung Moldovenesc.

7. Campulung Moldovenesc – Bistrita – Sibiu - Sibiel

Today we continue our roundtrip of Romania to the town of Sibiu. On the way we have a stop in Bistrita – one of seven towns founded by the Saxons, whose presence still lives on in the old town`s quaint 15th and 16th century merchants` houses. We arrive in Sibiu in the afternoon and have a sightseeing tour. Sibiu was once the king of the Transylvanian Saxon towns. It is an enchanting town with newly cobblestoned squares and pedestrian malls, and the unique ”eyelid” rooftop windows looking over pastel-painted buildings. After a walking tour in the heart of Sibiu and the Old Town we drive to the small town Sibiel for overnight.

8. Sibiel - Bran castle – Brasov – Poiana Brasov

This morning we start our tour with a visit to the unique Zosim Oancea Icons Museum – one of Romania`s largest icon museums, with some 700 glass-painted icons collected by a priest. We drive further. Today we visit the famous Bran castle. Its sharp structure, its fairy-tale turrets rising from an enveloping rocky bluff between two majestic hills looks too vampiric to not warrant a little “ooh” at first viewing. After a tour of the castle we continue to Brasov. Now we are in the heart of Transylvania. We have a sightseeing tour of Brasov and its historic centre, paved roads, baroque facades and churches. We will of course not miss the wide square Piata Sfatului and the Black Church. In the evening we have an overnight stay in Poiana Brasov – a charming mountain resort near Brasov.

9. Brasov – Sinaia – Peles castle – Bucharest

Today we say good bye to Transylvania and head to Bucharest. On our way we pass Sinaia – home to Romania`s first king. Here we are going to see the shining star of Sinaia – the marvelous Peles Castle. This is really a palace. Fairy-tale turrets rise above acres of green meadows and grand reception halls in Moorish, French and Florentine styles. After a tour of the castle and free time we drive to Bucharest. We have a sightseeing tour of Bucharest in the afternoon and free time. Here we visit the Parlament – the world`s second largest building after the US Pentagon and Ceausescu`s most infamous creation. Last overnight in Bucharest.
